Students will study Western and Non-Western art history from the Renaissance through the present. Course content emphasizes painting, sculpture, and some architecture from the most important centers of culture, and how art reflects historical occurrences, social, political, and religious attitudes of the time. Comparative analysis of styles and artists with critical evaluation of aesthetics will be included. Topics include Early to High Renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque, Rococo, Romanticism, Impressionism, Post Impressionism, Fauvism, Cubism, Abstract Expressionism, Post Modernism.
